Alice O’Leary Randall co-founded the medical cannabis movement in 1976 with her late husband, Robert C. Randall, the first person in the U.S. to legally receive medical cannabis (to treat glaucoma). They worked tirelessly to reform the prohibitions against cannabis until Robert’s untimely death in 2001. Alice then became a hospice nurse and later a grief counselor. She retired in 2012 and re-entered the medical cannabis field. From 2015 until April 2020 she was a roving ambassador for Mary’s Medicinals and traveled the globe to attend cannabis conferences. She is the author of Pain Free with CBD and Medical Marijuana in America: Memoir of a Pioneer. She is also a frequent speaker.
