Dr. Gerber initially studied acupuncture at the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) where she received a dual Masters’ degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine MPH Program. She received her Doctorate of Acupuncture in April 2020 from Pacific College of Health and Science (PCHS). In November 2020 she joined the clinical staff at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Pain Management Center as an acupuncture clinician.
In her early acupuncture career, after owning a clinic in which she saw 60+ patients per week, she transitioned over to the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) as a research acupuncturist, and then added research project manager responsibilities. She continues to perform acupuncture research protocols both inside and outside the MRI scanner. Additionally, Jess is a co-author on over 25 peer reviewed journal articles and is often asked to contribute as a peer reviewer.
Jess is the Program Director for the MGH Alzheimer’s Clinical Translational Research Unit and Director of Research Operations for the MGH Interdisciplinary Brain Center. Inspired by her coursework at PCHS, in 2020 she designed a research protocol to investigate the benefits of acupuncture on patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and their caregivers.
With over 10 years of experience in the field of research, over 12 years as an acupuncture clinician and prior teaching experience at NESA, she is excited and well positioned to teach Functions of Evidence Informed Practice. Her academic mission is to make learning about research as accessible as possible.
